February Pt: 1

My sister and i were out to dinner when i realized how i'd begin to spend the first part of february's money. Our waitress was wonderful; a late 20 something woman with, interestingly enough, zero make-up on. I don't recall ever seeing a waitress without make-up on. I'm sure there's either some conscious or unconscious thought process that says more make-up=more beautiful=better tip. I would imagine this could be especially true in a place like Buffalo Wild Wings, where Jill and I found ourselves, on a saturday night. But none-the-less, here was this gentle woman with no make-up.

I don't know if i've ever had a waitress like her before. In my experience, there's most always some 'act' you can see right though. Though they say nice things and are very polite, you can sense a bit of forced servanthood. I didn't get any of this from the woman inside the busy B-Dubs.

The combination of her gentle spirit, genuineness, and boldness to be a waitress without gobs of eye-liner and make-up, lifted my spirits. I wrote her a note on a napkin that went something like,

"Thank you. You are wonderful. May God bless you and keep you :)"

put a $20 bill sticking half way out of the napkin, so she could see some of the writing, and left the premise.
